　今日勉強した英語の中で間違えたことや調べたことをメモしておく。

コロケーション

　今回は古沢寛行・小宮山浩光・レコード，カービィ(2004)「コロケーション徹底演習I」(泰文堂)PP.118-121を参照。

コロケーション徹底演習〈1〉

　今回、間違えたのは以下の表現：

	751.	He wanted to study more but he had to drop out of school at an early age to earn his daily bread.
		彼はもっと勉強したかったのだが、その日の食い扶持を稼ぐために、若い時期に学校を止めなければならなかった。
	753.	In the old man's ninety years he has seen a lot. We should benefit from his wisdom and experience.
		その老人は90年の人生で随分と世間を見てきているようだ。私たちは彼の知恵と経験から得られるものを得るべきだ。
	754.	"Sorry I'm late," she said as she entered the room. Her boss only relied coldly, "So I see."
		「遅れてすみません」と彼女は部屋に入ってきて言った。上司はただ冷たく答えただけだった。「そのようだね」。
	755.	He had to acknowledge on his job application form that he had once served a sentence of five years for forgery.
		彼はかつて文書偽造罪で5年の刑期を務めたことを就職応募用紙で認めなければならなかった。
	756.	When I turned the corner I could hardly believe my eyes! Right in front of me stood a friend from my childhood, whom I had not seen for forty years.
		角を曲がったとき、私は殆ど信じられなかった！私のズバリ目の前に、40年も会っていなかった子供時代からの友人が立っていたのだ。

	765.	When George was fired from his job, many of his colleagues thought it served him right for being lazy.
		ジョージがクビになったとき、多くの同僚は怠けていたのだから良い気味だと考えた。
	769.	We could not afford to lose a moment of time. The accident victim was bleeding internally and needed to get to a hospital.
		私たちは一刻も無駄にできる余裕が無かった。事故の犠牲者は内出血していて病院に運び込まなければならなかった。
	770.	Although he was over ninety years of age, he could still entertain wild fantasies of love and romance.
		彼は90歳を超えていたが、依然として藍やロマンスのような奔放な想像を楽しんでいた。
	773.	Years of malnourishment made the people of the village look pale and emaciated.
		何年もの栄養不良によって、その村の人々は不健康でやつれてさえ見えた。
	774.	When Dr Reagan also suggested we quit for the day and have a drink, that settled it. We prepared to close up the office.
		リーガン博士も、その日はもう止めて一杯やろうじゃないかと提案したときに、それは決まった。我々はオフィスを閉める準備をした。
