 今日勉強した英語の中で間違えたことや調べたことをメモしておく。

コロケーション

 今回は古沢寛行・小宮山浩光・レコード,カービィ(2004)「コロケーション徹底演習I」(泰文堂)PP.55-58を参照。

 今回、間違えたのは以下の表現:

  327. Fearing they would not survive their ordeal at sea, many of the offices on the ship wrote their last wills and testaments.
  海上での過酷な試練に耐え抜くことができないのではないかと恐れをなし、士官の多くは遺書を書き残した。
  329. Try not to incur the anger of the boss, since he is known for his spiteful and punitive nature.
  その上司の怒りを買わないようにしなさい。なぜならば彼は意地悪で応報主義者で知られているからである。
  330. A mountain range on one side and the sea on the other formed natural boundaries for the fledgling nation state.

2.1 例題  The civilization of the Epytians is one of the oldest civilization on the earth. The people lived on the banks of the Nile and the small strip of fertile country on either side. This fertile land they cultivated, and grew there a great many crops of much the same kind that we grow nowadays. Besides food crops they also grew flax, and, from the thread spun from this, they wove themselves linen garments and dyed them many beautiful colours from dyes which they learned to make.
