　今日勉強した英語の中で間違えたことや調べたことをメモしておく。

コロケーション

　今回は古沢寛行・小宮山浩光・レコード，カービィ(2004)「コロケーション徹底演習II」(泰文堂)PP. 154-6を参照。

　今回、間違えたのは以下の表現：

	953.	The man claimed to have been in a flying saucer years ago, adding that we shouldn't be afraid of those creatures from outer space.
		数年前に空飛ぶ円盤に乗っていたと男は主張した。そして大気圏外宇宙からのこうした生命体を恐れてはいけないと付け加えて言った。
	956.	The room was dark. The second the police officer entered the room, he felt that something was terribly wrong.
		部屋は暗かった。警察官は部屋に入るや否や、何かがひどくおかしいと感じた。
	958.	The detective closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them to find a stranger a few feet away with a gun poised.
		刑事は一瞬目を閉じた。そして目を開けると、見知らぬ人物が数フィート先に銃を構えて立っていた。
	960.	Pamela sat watching TV in the living room while her two children frolicked around her, punching at each other for fun.
		居間でパメラは座ってテレビを見ていた。その間、2人の子供はふざけて殴り合いながら彼女の周りではしゃぎまわっていた。
	962.	I know the boy doesn't like me. Maybe I should take him fishing on the lake some day so that we may get to know each other better.
		あの男の子は私が好きでないことは分かっている。お互いがもっと分かり合えるよう、いつか彼を湖に釣りに連れて行こうと思う。
	964.	The detective arrested the suspect, took him by the arm, and led him to the squad car.
		刑事は容疑者を逮捕し、腕を捕まえるとパトカーに連行した。
	966.	The bicycle seemed to float beneath him, surging ahead under its own power, as if it were a monstrous bird.
		自転車は彼の体の下で空中に浮いて、まるで巨大な鳥のように、自力でぐんぐん前に突き進んでいくように思えた。
	967.	Opening the book, the boy began to read the page where it said such strange phenomena often happened in summer.
		本を開くと、男の子は、そのような奇妙な現象は夏にしばしば起きると書いてある頁を読み始めた。
	968.	Mary sounded very much concerned, and said, "Let's find out what it is that scares him so badly".
		メアリーはとても心配そうだった。「彼をそんなにも怖がらせているものが何なのか突き止めましょうよ。」
	970.	Don't worry. On three, stop the car and lie down flat on your seat. I'll shoot him down. It'll be all right, said the bodyguard.	"
		「心配無用。3つ数えたら車を止め、座席に身を伏せろ。そうしたら俺が奴を撃ち殺す。全て上手くいくさ」とボディガードは言った。
	971.	The archaeologist said, "We're trying to find out about the Indians who used to live up here.
		考古学者は言った、「私たちは、昔個々に住んでいたインディアンのことを知ろうとしているのです。」
	972.	You don't know what you're talking about, Tom. "Evidently no one else does, either", said Tom.
		「トム、お前は何のことを言っているのか自分で分かっていない」「明らかに他の誰も分かっていないさ」とトムは答えた。
	973.	The police were finally able to track the fugitive down to a small town near the border.
		遂に警察は、その逃亡者を国境近くの小さな町に追い詰め捕らえることができた。

	If you are not honest with the doctor when you are ill, it instead of curing you he will make you worse.
	病気になったときに医者に対して正直でないと、恐らく医者のお陰で良くなるどころか病気が悪化するだろう。
